It's Sunday, and that means it's time for The Sunday Scoop with The Teaching Trio!
Yes, state testing begins tomorrow. Then we have school-wide STAR testing Thursday and Friday. And next week will bring the social studies field test. God bless us, every one!
I am still - STILL - without a washing machine, so it's back to the laundromat I go today. This is now over two weeks with two teenagers and no machine. Kill me now. We have decided that if it's not fixed by Wednesday, we'll just buy a new one.
I've booked a fall break trip to Disney, and I'm so VERY fortunate that a neighbor and parent of a former student is also a Disney travel specialist! All I have to do is give her dates and tell her what we want to do, and she handles the rest, for the exact same price as booking it myself. This is just my second time to DW, so her help is invaluable. And, y'all, this woman KNOWS Disney. If you're thinking of planning a trip, check out her Facebook page. She is the bomb. (Does anyone say that anymore?)
Last, I've decided to take the plunge and redecorate my room next year. No, I'm UPdecorating my room. I'm using a lot of what I've already got, just adding in some new details and colors. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I've fallen in love with the Hello, Sunshine collection from Schoolgirl Style, and I love trolling Pinterest for inspiration. I got a few scores at Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree yesterday, and I'm excited to do some more planning!
Enjoy your Sunday!
I thought I was the only one who was already thinking of decorating their classroom for next year lol I love to change up the theme of my classroom each year especially since I have the same students for 3 years in a row...what are some themes you have been searching?
ReplyDeleteUGH on the washer. I don't even want to think about that! And I've been thinking about my room for next year as well. I don't do themes or decorate a lot, but I am going to totally overhaul my library system...it's such a mess. Suggestions are welcome :) Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSparkling - Nope, you're not alone. :) I'm a big fan of Schoolgirl Style, and I loved her monster theme and her rainbow one, but the hello, sunshine theme was the winner. It combines the yellow I already have with the teal I inherited on lockers and floor tiles. Can't wait to get started!!
ReplyDeleteBeth - Triple UGH!! But, it's definitely made me realize how blessed I am - I'll never complain about doing laundry again. :) I always spiff up my library around this time of year, too. I'll take a bookshelf or two at a time and cull out the books that are old, worn, or nobody reads - and then I give them away as "prizes" for good behavior. I have mine in clear plastic shoeboxes, facing out on the bookshelves, so I begin replacing those as needed. Then I'll pack all of the books up in boxes and store them on top of the cabinets while the floor crew does their thing. I know everyone has a different system, but I organize my library according to interest, theme, and series - I don't organize according to level. For me, it's just more like "real life" to do it that way, and that's how things are usually organized in libraries or book stores. But I know lots who categorize according to level, and they love it, too. Organizing your library can be such a huge undertaking, but it feels so GOOD when it's done!! Let me know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Disney! Best vacation place on earth-especially if you get a few pool days. I probably should do Disney travel when I retire. Last August I planned for our extended family 10 adults and 6 kids. We had a blast, never had long waits, and are ready to go back. I am so jealous that you can go in the fall. If it makes you feel any better, laundry was on my list and it still isn't done. Happy almost-Monday.

Well, I'm in the process of making dining reservations, so any recommendations for restaurants that teens would like would be great! :)
